As to the lifetime of a stylus, it's almost 'how long is a piece of string?' At one time 1000 playing hours was the recommended life of a diamond stylus, so, in your case, maybe once a year. You need to quote the stylus number, which should be on the small 'flag' which projects from the side of the stylus, or compare your stylus with those illustrated, as both it and the cartridge are almost certainly not the type originally fitted. Contact details for these and others are in the 'sticky' thread at the head of this section. Replacements are available from several on-line supplier such as Musonic or A-V-A On Line. Most of these are removable by gently pulling downwards and forward from the front. Gently pull the two pieces apart until the stylus becomes unattached from the front. To do this, take your small flat-head screwdriver and insert it between the area where the stylus guard meets the headshell. From your fourth picture, which isn't too clear, it appears that the stylus is what I call a 'flip-under' type. The first step in the replacement process is to remove the old needle.
