![]() Local principles are those which are peculiar to the specified target learners. Delivery specific principles are those which are peculiar to the means of delivering the materials (i.e. Universal principles are principles of language acquisition and development (Tomlinson, 2007a) which are applicable to all learners everywhere regardless of their age, level, objectives, and context of learning. In my view, there should be a specification of universal principles, delivery specific principles, and local principles before deciding what self-access materials to develop and how to develop them.
